Projects requiring large amounts of concrete also play to the strength of a volumetric mixer. Many companies have used larger production models as on site batch plants. Because the volumetric mixer is compact it is easier to set up vs. a traditional batch plant. This is a big advantage when there is short notice of a project and large amounts of concrete are needed quickly.

Volumetric mixers have the production capacity to operate as a stand alone, centralized batch plant when needed. Even the large skid mounted units are portable and in some cases do not require permitting.

This is one the largest and highest production based volumetric mixers ever built. It is capable of producing 120 cubic yards of concrete per hour. It was used on an floating oil plat form to provide ballast for the rig.
